1. Choose a suitable storage location:
Dry and ventilated: Choose a dry and well-ventilated indoor environment to avoid humidity and stuffiness to prevent paint cans from rusting and paint deterioration. The ideal storage environment humidity should be maintained at 40%-60% and the temperature should be 15℃-25℃.
Away from fire and heat sources: Paint is a flammable item. The storage location should be away from open flames, electric sparks, heating equipment, such as stoves, heaters, ovens, etc., to prevent fire and explosion.
Avoid direct sunlight: Long-term direct sunlight will increase the temperature of the paint cans and cause changes in the paint properties. Therefore, the paint cans should be stored in a cool place, or use sunshades, curtains, etc. to block the sun.
2. Follow the correct placement method:
Upright placement: Paint cans should be stored upright to avoid tilting or horizontal placement to prevent paint leakage. Because tilting or horizontal placement may cause the paint in the can to contact the can lid seal, which will damage the seal for a long time and cause paint leakage.
Stable placement: Place the paint cans on a stable shelf or ground to prevent tipping. If you need to stack paint cans, make sure that the bottom layer of paint cans can bear the weight of the upper layer, and the stacking height should not be too high to avoid collapse.
3. Other factors that control the storage environment:
Avoid mixing with other items: Do not mix paint cans with food, beverages, medicines, flammable and explosive items, etc. to avoid contamination or danger.
Regular inspection: Check the appearance and storage environment of the paint cans every once in a while (such as one month) to check whether the paint cans have signs of deformation, rust, leakage, etc., and whether the temperature and humidity of the storage environment meet the requirements. If problems are found, timely measures should be taken to deal with them.
4. Pay attention to personal protection: When storing paint cans, pay attention to personal protection, wear gloves, masks and other protective equipment, and avoid skin contact and inhalation of harmful gases volatilized by paint.
