How to safely release pressure from a paint can?
Dec 03, 2025
1. Shut down the compressed air supply.
First, the compressed air supply connected to the paint can must be shut off to cut off the pressure source.
2. Release the pressure regulator.
Operate the pressure reducing valve or regulating valve to completely release the residual air pressure in the system. This step effectively prevents accidents caused by sudden pressure release during subsequent operations.
3. Safely disassemble components.
After the pressure is completely released, loosen the air cap (about 2-3 turns) and cover the air cap with a cloth to further ensure safety.
4. Subsequent cleaning and maintenance.
After releasing the pressure, it is recommended to thoroughly clean the spray gun system to prevent paint residue from hardening and affecting future use. Refer to a professional spray gun maintenance guide for specific cleaning methods.
Safety Precautions
Personal Protection: Always wear protective gloves, goggles, and other equipment during operation to avoid paint or solvent contact with skin or eyes.
Ambient Ventilation: Ensure good ventilation in the work area to reduce the risk of fire or health hazards from solvent evaporation. Emergency preparedness: Familiarize yourself with the emergency plan. In case of pressure vessel abnormalities (such as bulging), immediately cut off the pressure source and slowly release the pressure, while demarcating a warning zone.
