How to Determine if a Paint Can Has Been Depressurized
I. Visual Inspection
1. Can Shape Returns to Normal: The previously bulging can body and raised lid have completely returned to a flat state, with no outward tension, indicating that the internal pressure has been largely released.
2. Temperature Matches Ambient Temperature: The surface temperature of the can is exactly the same as the surrounding environment temperature, with no localized heating, indicating that the solvent inside the can is no longer continuously evaporating and increasing pressure.
3. No Signs of Gas Escape: During the settling process, there are no continuous fine bubbles or odors escaping from the edge of the lid, indicating that the internal and external pressures have reached equilibrium.
II. Verification Through Gentle Operation
1. No Springback When Pressing the Lid: Press the lid evenly with your finger. If there is no elastic rebound and it does not spring back after being pressed, it proves that there is no residual high pressure inside the can.
2. No Air Jet When Prying Open a Gaps: Gently pry open a 1-2 mm gap on the edge of the lid with a tool. If there is no obvious hissing sound, it indicates that the depressurization is complete.
3. No gas surge sound when gently shaking the can: Slowly shake the can; if no obvious gas surge or gas-liquid collision sound is heard inside, the gas and liquid have completely separated and there is no high pressure.
III. Verification of Special Can Type Parameters
1. Industrial pressurized paint can: Check the pressure gauge on the can; if the pointer is completely zero and the pressure value is approximately 0.1 MPa (normal pressure), the pressure release is complete.
2. Self-spraying paint pressurized can: Press the nozzle repeatedly; if the airflow changes from a strong jet to a smooth, pressureless jet, the pressure inside the can has been completely released.
3. Large-capacity sealed paint bucket: After standing for 15-30 minutes, gently pry the edge again; if there is no pressure release, the pressure release is confirmed to be complete.
